LOUISIANA, FALL PROJECTS:

In the fall we picked up the boat in Lizard Creek and took her down to a uniquely perfect marina in Slidell where I was free to work on my projects on the grass under a huge shade tree and run power tools untill well after dark….

using galvanized NPT plumbing parts for this seemed like a good idea at the time….

at one point the water in the Bayou actually dropped so low I was able to paint the name on the transom in my rubber boots.

ROAD TRIP NORTH, COLLECTING DONATED BIKES, “SAMPHIRE“, “PLEADES“, “EN CAVALE” AND LOOSING MY CAMERA:

Samphire on the Bay of Fundy, pre-refit.

In  December I went north to visit family and ended up on a circuitous road trip down the eastern seaboard collecting donated bicycles to take with us to the Caribbean. I also conveniently delivered Olaf the Volvo to to the boatyard for Paul and Twyla to use during the planned major refit of their new boat Samphire. Shortly thereafter I lost a camera with all of the photos of that time un-downloaded, still on the card. I particularly regret having no pictures from meeting the crew on Pleiades for the first time, seeing Samphire in the Guanas canal, Picking up the bicycles at Recycle-a-bike in New York, transporting them to Florida or working on them at Zombie Bikes in Jacksonville.
